For all of those students who love computer games and are interested in video game development, the Computer Science and Engineering Department welcomes Jim Galis, an executive producer for Toy Headquarters on Wednesday. Galis has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington. He spent 11 years as a video game executive, successfully handling eight major titles; starting with Beetle Adventure Racing Nintendo 64 for Electronic Arts, to the most recent Stuntman Ignition for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2. He has experience in all phases of production, expertise with in-game advertising, marketing and public relations support and studio management. Prior to video games, he was a software engineer in visual simulation for more than ten years, programming graphics real time systems for flight simulators. Galis will provide an overview of the video game development business, with first-hand insight to what it takes to be on a game team, how it works, and how a graduate can be successful in the industry, said Computer Science and Engineering senior lecturer Arthur Reyes. When & WhereWednesday, March 4Nedderman Hall Room 106 By attending this presentation, Reyes said students can get answers to their most-asked questions. “Students can find out if game development truly is what they want to do,” Reyes said. The presentation will be held at noon in 106 Nedderman Hall. The event is free and open to the public. There will be free food and refreshments. Views: 101 | E-mail
