The Forefront of Discovery. UT Arlington is classified as a Research University/High Activity by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Expenditures for engineering faculty research are more than $40 million a year. Some of the projects currently under way include creating artificial limb technology to help veterans return to a more normal life, developing biohazard-detecting microbots for the Department of Defense, designing video games to help children with cerebral palsy improve their motor skills, developing new ways to harvest adult stem cells, and manufacturing a system that converts natural gas to jet fuel.
