English Alumnus Accepted into Prestigious Writing Program


English Department alumnus Shaun Hamill has been offered a full fellowship for Fall 2014 into the prestigious Iowa Writers Workshop. With the help of UTA's Coordinator of Creative Writing Laura Kopchick, Hamill applied for the University of Iowa’s prestigious Program in Creative Writing (also known as the Iowa Writers’ Workshop) which was the first of its kind in the United States.The degree program was founded in 1936. The Workshop has several distinguished writers in its ranks,including seventeen Pulitzer Prize winners and six US Poet Laureates. The acceptance rate for the Workshop is approximately 2%.
