Zoa literally means “living being.” It is used in Genesis 2:7: “Then the Lord God formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and he became a living being.” Blake uses the term to describe the four “faculties” of Albion, the Eternal Man, whose “disordering” or “disorganization” is narrated in the Book of Urizen.
