University of Texas at El Paso

1973-1989Founder and Director, Study Skills and Tutorial Services. Major areas of responsibility: program design, administration, staff development:
    - Administered learning assistance program that employed five professional staff, two secretaries, seven teaching assistants, and 100 peer tutors who tutored and taught more than 11,500 students per year.

    - Trained and supervised seven-ten instructors who taught eight- weeks, non-credit study skills classes (30 sections, 1000 students per year). This class was a full-semester credit class from 1973- 1978 during which time I regularly taught it. Designed both versions of this class.

    - Trained and supervised instructors who taught eight-weeks, non- credit college reading classes (11 sections, 300 students per year). Designed and occasionally taught this class.

    - Hired, trained, and supervised the professional staff coordinators who directed the tutoring in the Learning Assistance Lab, Microcomputer Learning Lab, and the Math, Science, Writing, Language, Nursing, and Business Tutoring rooms.

    - Prepared and managed the budget and reported program results.

    - Created liaison between tutoring program and faculty.
