postmodern pastoral (detrital ...

                    I

     a world

        open to speculation ...

     we hunt for a talisman

		           amid the ruins

         or maybe the immutable

                       I-beam

	     once a symbol of permanence

inside this atomistic probity

          there is no archetypal reality

	     to construct or a unity

		   which can remain

	         unbroken -

as if to ruminate on verities

           reduced by the absonant

	   flow of irrational ideologies

    as each individual

        may ascertain fulfillment

	   yet only where abstuse leavings

			   linger

           as incoherences reflecting

  erections of an inebriated conscience

			present

	     amid these constellated crowds

	      the ambling faces urging

	          its unacknowledged presence

		  to elutriate

			the apathetic countenance -

                         II

knowledge is no threat

       to ideology's progress

               as long as it remains

	   a transparent tool

		    to initiate a faith

	      which inflates the ego

			     as in each outcome

		      the answer lay

			      unresolvable

       as there is no absolute

	    structure for silence

				 to know

			       no wounds

			   words do not instill

	     or to wake the faces

		  where fiction lives

			upon each page

			the facile imprimaturs

			   as autonomous

				as our hearts are

			 impervious

		   to the unchanging
