Adjunct Interim, Emergency Hires
In the event of an unexpected faculty vacancy (tenure and tenure-track), and when time does not permit a full search to be conducted, the Provost may approve an adjunct interim (temporary), emergency appointment. The duration of this appointment shall not exceed 12 months, during which time a search will be conducted.
An adjunct interim, emergency appointee cannot serve more than 12 months in the position from the time of appointment without having been recommended by a search committee and selected by the hiring individual for the position as a result of a search conducted in accordance with these search procedures.
Departments must request through the Chair, Dean, Provost, and President for approval and funding (Appendix O).
Exceptions
The President may make exceptions to this policy/procedure.
