UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE IN INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES PROGRAM The School of Urban and Public Affairs (SUPA) at the University of Texas at Arlington (UT Arlington) invites applications for the position of Director of the undergraduate Interdisciplinary Studies Program. The duties of the Director include research, teaching, and program administration as well as curriculum development, student recruitment, and working with other degree programs on campus. Art and Art History POSITION: Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, Film/Video at the University of Texas at Arlington. Position start date August 2010.
QUALIFICATIONS: An MFA in Film/Video is required. A strong background in narrative, with experience in 16mm production is required. The applicant should have a meaningful exhibition and/or significant festival record and college level teaching experience.
The applicant must be proficient in film/digital production, screenwriting, pre-production, post production and related software including, Final Cut Pro©, Final Draft©. The ability to teach Documentary, History of Film or History of Video Art or Sound for film and video would be desirable. The position requires the faculty member to teach undergraduate courses (with the opportunity to also teach in the MFA program) in film and digital production in the Art and Art History Department, continue to help develop the film and digital programs, advise students, and participate in departmental and community service. The selected candidate must continue to develop both their personal work and reputation as a filmmaker. Film/Video is a program of study in the Art and Art History Department with four full time faculty, a number of part time faculty and part time equipment room staff. There are over one hundred BFA students and seven MFA students in the area. It is a very "hands on" program with BFA students beginning to make work in their first semester. There are a number of computer labs, film and digital camera and lighting systems, and shooting studio(s) available. In addition, our students benefit from the area being in an Art Department, where many other Studio and Art History classes have a positive and reinforcing influence on their work.

Tenure Track Assistant Professor
The Bioengineering Department of The University of Texas at Arlington seeks candidates for a tenure-track assistant professor position starting in Fall 2010. The desired specialization for the position is in medical ultrasound, preferably in an area combining ultrasound with optical imaging. For example, candidates having expertise in photo-acoustic, acousto-optic, or ultrasound tagged photon imaging would be of interest. However, other medical ultrasound areas will also be considered. Candidates must have good academic qualifications and stature to qualify for the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate is expected to establish a vigorous externally funded research program, teach graduate and undergraduate courses, and perform university service.
The University of Texas at Arlington's College of Engineering provides the most comprehensive engineering program in North Texas and one of the most comprehensive programs in the nation with eight baccalaureate programs, 12 master's and 9 doctoral. The college has over 3,700 students and eight departments: Bioengineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Importantly, the Bioengineering Department has a joint program with The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, as well as on-site lab space for its imaging faculty, thus providing excellent opportunities for collaboration with clinicians. The College of Engineering is in the midst of a major expansion program that includes three new engineering construction projects: the Engineering Research Building, the Civil Engineering Laboratory Building, and the Engineering Laboratory Building. Over the last eight years, faculty size has increased from 100 to over 160, and research expenditures have increased from $12 million to over $40 million annually. Art and Art History POSITION: Assistant Professor in Art History with a specialization in Asian or African art at the University of Texas at Arlington. Position start date August 2010.
