Jobs and Careers for Program Graduates - FAQ

What are the job prospects for program graduates?

As far as we can tell, all program graduates have found jobs in the environmental sector. Graduates now work in government agencies (local, state, and federal), consulting firms, and institutions of higher education.

What kind of job can I get with a Ph.D.?

There is essentially only one job that requires a Ph.D. -- teaching in universities and four-year colleges. There is also a small number of federal agency jobs that require a Ph.D.

That said, there are many people with doctoral degrees in environmental science working in government agencies, consulting firms, and major industrial companies. In these sectors, the doctoral degree is not a requirement, but can strengthen your career qualifications. However, outside of the academic world, the most important qualification is usually experience.
