SUMMARY:Oz the Great and Powerful (Free Outdoor Movie)
DESCRIPTION:
UT Arlington presents a free outdoor movie! Students,
 faculty/staff, alumni and community
members are welcomed; free popcorn; soft drinks
and concessions for sale. Lawn seating; bring
a blanket or chair. Children under 17 must
be accompanied by a parent or guardian. \n
 \n
 Adventure Family, and Fantasy\n
 109 minutes;

 Rated
PG for sequences of action and scary
 images, and brief mild language\n
 \n
 When Oscar
Diggs, a small-time circus magician with dubious
ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas
to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit
the jackpot--fame and fortune are his for
the taking--that is until he meets three witches,
Theodora, Evanora and Glinda, who are not
convinced he is the great wizard everyone's
been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic
problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants,
Oscar must find out who is good and
who is evil before it is too late. Putting
his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity--and
even a bit of wizardry--Oscar transforms
himself not only into the great and powerful
Wizard of Oz but into a better man as
 well. \n

SUMMARY:Girlgeneering
DESCRIPTION:
The goal of our Girlgeneering camp is to increase
the interest of high ability young women
in a career in engineering by combating stereotypes,
 creating connections, reducing the issue
of competition for resources with boys, and
 demonstrating the real-world social impact
of engineering. This one-week day camp will
introduce middle school young women to the field
of engineering by showing how engineering
is connected to personal issues, social concerns,
 and community interests. The Girlgeneering
camp is designed to provide young women with
a broad exposure to the variety of engineering
 disciplines -- aerospace, biomedical, civil
 & environmental, computer science, electrical,
materials science and mechanical -- plus
related topics in chemistry and physics. Field
trips to see engineering at area businesses
and team projects supplement the classroom
activities. This camp is limited to 50 students.
  The Girlgeneering camp is a 8:30 a.m.
to 5:30 p.m. day camp with a Friday evening awards
session. The program fees cover a participant's
 meals, insurance, project materials
 and activities. \n\n
