SUMMARY:Lambda Arts & Education Series
DESCRIPTION:
Douglas Klahr, Associate Professor in the School
of Architecture at UT Arlington discusses
the challenge of addressing different aspects
of his identity as an American born ten years
after the end of World War II into a New York
Jewish family of German origins who also happens
to be gay. In his talk, Prof. Klahr questions
how he attempted to comprehend not only
the Holocaust, but also what he considered
the ironic presence of homophobia within the
postwar Jewish community. He then challenges
the audience to see how prejudice can lead to
intolerance and ultimately hatred with sometimes
 deadly results. \n
