Biomechanics of Native and Engineered Heart Valve Tissues
(College of Engineering)
The Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department welcomes Michael S. Sacks, Whiteford Professor of Bioengineering and Civil Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh and professor of Bioengineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Heart valves cycle some 30-to-40 million times a year. Computational modeling of valve function requires the ability to capture the underlying physiologic function. Professor Sacks will describe morphological-based constitutive models that consider a broad range of strain and deformation modes. Everyone welcome.
