The College of Engineering and the Arlington Technology Association welcome Dale Powers, Ph.D., senior technical analyst in the Region IV office of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The national policy of energy independence has spurred new interest in nuclear power plants; industries have submitted license applications for 24 new reactors. In this presentation, Dr. Powers describes the considerations surrounding the construction of new reactors and how they are being addressed.
