Friends of the Library - Alan Lowe: George W. Bush Presidential Center
Alan C. Lowe, Director of the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, will present the program "The Presidential Libraries and the George W. Bush Presidential Center" on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 7:30pm in the Central Library sixth floor parlor. The talk will be followed by a reception and a book sale.

Alan C. Lowe obtained his B.A. and M.A. in history at the University of Kentucky. In 1989, he joined the staff of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California as an archivist. In 1992, he moved to the Office of Presidential Libraries at the National Archives in Washington, D.C., where he helped to oversee the Presidential libraries located throughout the nation. During part of that time, he served as interim Director of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library in Hyde Park, New York. Lowe will speak about his career with the National Archives and the role of the Presidential libraries, and give in depth information on the mission of and plans for the George W. Bush Library. The Bush Library has been working from its temporary headquarters in Lewisville, TX, but will move to the new facility at Southern Methodist University with a scheduled dedication date in early 2013. Lowe will discuss that facility and the many resources and programs the Library will provide.
