New Particle Explained, Is it the Higgs?
(Lectures/Talks)

On July 4th, Physicists at the CERN particle accelerator complex announced the discovery of a brand new particle. Is this the Higgs Particle sometimes dubbed the "God Particle?" Are you curious? If you heard the news and would like to hear a bit more, or are hearing the news now and are wondering what's up, you are invited to a free public event at the UTA planetarium at 3 p.m. Friday, July 6th. Dr. Jae Yu, a UTA physics professor and member of the ATLAS collaboration that shared in the discovery, will give a short public lecture explaining the results and significance of the discovery. Also available for questions will be UTA professor Andrew Brandt, also a member of ATLAS, and Chris Jackson, an assistant professor at UTA specializing in Higgs theory.
