Banned Books Week - various activities
(Arts & Culture - UT Arlington and Community)

For 30 years Banned Books Week has served to celebrate the freedom to read and brings together the entire book community: librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types, in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular. --American Library Association

Events during Banned Books Week include the Focus on Faculty Lecture on Oct. 3 by Lonny Harrison of the Russian Section of the Modern Languages Department, speaking about When Books Go Underground: Censorship and Media Control in Russia; the Virtual Read-Out; book and comic book exhibits; virtual exhibits with contributions by library staff students and any library users who wish to participate. Look for the table on the ground floor of Central Library for more information about the Virtual Read-Out, about Read Banned Book posters, and find the graffiti white boards nearby.
