TxDOT Labor Day Drink.Drive.Go to Jail Campaign (Special Events)
"Drink, Drive. Go to Jail" campaign to educate Texans about the severe consequences of drunk driving in an effort to curb the trend of DWIs and fatal crashes.
This event consists of trained staffers who travel to different campuses with a mobile jail cell to remind students that drunk driving can lead to jail time. Staffers invite students to come inside the mock jail and experience a fake incarceration to avoid real jail time in the future. Participants will be encouraged to put on an orange jumpsuit, step behind bars and have a "mug shot" taken. While inside the jail, staffers will speak to students about the social consequences of a DWI arrest. The consequences range from alcohol-education classes to the difficulties of getting approved for an apartment or job.
