"Rallying All Troops for Early Cancer Diagnostics"
Samir Iqbal, Associate Professor, UTA Department of Electric Engineering
The heterogeneity at various levels of cancer makes it a unique disease. Our lab has been working on a number of ideas to understand, measure and quantify character and behavior of cancer cells under physiological conditions. We are using some critical surface proteins of tumor cells to interface solid surfaces and devices, first to use these for cytological diagnostics and second to learn how the microenvironment around tumor cells can affect their behavior.
