"In-Vivo Sensing for Intelligent Surgical Slaves"

Nabil Simaan, Ph.D., Vanderbilt University

Abstract:
This talk will focus on our efforts in designing and controlling intelligent surgical telemanipulation slaves. The talk will also describe recent results on the design and control of continuum robots capable of performing contact detection and localization. Finally, we will describe our design of a novel compliant motion control algorithm for multi-segment continuum robots and present resent experimental results and motivation.
