April 11-12, 2013: Indigenous Languages Documentation and Revitalization Workshop: "Immersion for Native Languages."41st Annual Symposium on the American Indian. (Tahlequah, OK)

This workshop precedes the OWNAL linguistics conference; Dr. Colleen Fitzgerald presents, along with Joshua Hinson on Chickasaw immersion, Ryan Mackey on Cherokee immersion (with a demo), and Dr. Tracy Hirata-Edds on principles of immersion learning. (flyer)

April 9-14, 2012: 40th Annual Symposium on the American Indian, The Journey of Sovereign Nations: Self-determination and Human Rights (Tahlequah, OK)

The 2012 theme was 'The Grammar of Sound: Creating Sound Memories for Teaching Your Language.' Along with Dr. Colleen Fitzgerald, presenters from a variety of Oklahoma universities and language programs participated, and graduate students from UT Arlington participated. Materials online.

Dec. 2, 2011: FLEx training at Chickasaw Cultural Center (Sulpher, OK)

On Friday, December 2, we are holding a workshop on using Fieldworks Language Explorer for databasing Native American Languages. Materials are available at the training page.

Nov. 18-19, 2011: Service Learning at Chickasaw Language Revitalization Program

Mar. 15-17, 2011: Service Learning at Comanche Nation College

Students to help develop PowerPoint computer module shells, and use targeted vocabulary and grammatical skills to produce a comprehensive diagnostic exam and a comprehensive final exam. Itinerary here.
