Description

Friday, June 20 1:00-3:00 pm

Plants and animals are important in every culture and have helped to shape our languages and language diversity. This workshop will involve discussion of plant/animal origins and dispersals around the world and impacts on languages/vocabularies. Discussion will include ideas such as how scientists determine an origin region for a plant/animal as well as timing of anthropogenic dispersals. An interactive activity will be used to highlight ways that modern trade in plants is still changing languages and world-views.
