Biography

Susan Smythe Kung, PhD, is the Archive Manager of the Archive of the Indigenous Languages of Latin America (AILLA) at the University of Texas at Austin. AILLA is a digital repository established in 2001 with the mission to preserve language materials in or about any of the indigenous languages spoken in Latin America and to make these materials publically available free of charge via the Internet. Susan is a documentary field linguist who has extensively researched and documented Huehuetla Tepehua, an endangered language spoken in Mexico; the majority of the language data that she collected in the field can be heard or viewed on the AILLA website www.ailla.utexas.org under the language name Tepehua de Hueheutla.
