Racquel Yamada


Racquel Yamada is an Assistant Professor in the department of Anthropology at the University of Oklahoma. She received her PhD from the University of Oregon in 2010 and has published widely on community empowerment models in language documentation. Together with community members Racquel has expanded the documentary corpus of the Aretyry dialect of Kari’nja (Cariban). Projects include language documentation, revitalization, and curriculum development. Since 2006, Racquel has taught courses in methods and materials for language teaching at the Northwest Indian Language Institute's annual Summer Institute.
