Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry

Our research interests span diverse topics in Bioorganic and Organic Chemistry. Inquiry within our laboratory is performed through organic synthesis. The rest of the time, we do whatever it takes to design our molecules and characterize and analyze their desired function.

Currently, we are interested in the following
areas of research:

Biomimetic Oxidation Chemistry
Materials for Drug Discovery
Novel Targets for Anti-Infectives
Photo-induced Electron Transport Reactions
Stereochemical Induction via Symmetry Groups

We also participate in various collaborations that allow us to
synthesize molecules that resemble natural substances, including:

Nonnatural Amino Acids
RNA Metabolites
Phospholipid Mimics
