Final Exam: The final exam is May 5th from 2 to 4:50 PM. The final exam will consist of approximately 25 multiple choice questions and 3 to 6 short answer/essay style questions. John Brookby has provided notes and a review sheet (see below). Additional questions will come from the student paper/presentations. Please bring a Scan-tron answer sheet and pencils.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR SATURDAY APRIL 7TH's SITE INSPECTION:
You must wear hard soled shoes such as hiking boots (no regular shoes or tennis
shoes) for the site inspection this Saturday. Also, please wear pants or jeans
(no skirts). You will be climbing a ladder to a second floor.
I know that many of you do not check your UTA e-mail. Could you please forward
this e-mail to your classmates' regular e-mail addresses. I know that most of
you have at least your UP teammates e-mail address. Thanks! Help me get the word
out so everyone can participate in the inspection this Saturday (April 7th).
Final Term Paper Announcements:
All papers due no later than May 5th at 5 PM, no exceptions!

I would like everyone to attend every presentation. I will be asking you for feedback on each presentation. I also hope that you participate and ask questions at the end of each presentation (time permitting).
You may use PowerPoint and/or the classroom document camera. Please use visuals.
Provide handouts for your presentation. Make copies for the class (15 total).
Please practice your presentation. I will be strict regarding the 20-minute time limit.
Paper Style (see below)
Paper Citations: Citations should be in the format of Author(s) Last Name(s) (publication year). For example, Jones and Smith (2005). From this citation in the body of the text, I should be able to reference the article in the citation section of the paper.
Paper Length: 25 to 50 pages. I realize that this is not a dissertation or thesis, but I am expecting a well written, well research graduate level paper. Please double-space.
Required Citations: a minimum of 12. At least half of your citations must be from journals rather than newspaper or magazines.
Grammar, spelling, organization, and structure count!
No plagiarism.
Top must be clearly tied to Design, Construction, and/or Planning.
I found this interesting as some of the proposed research topics (on page 2) are similar to some of the Term Paper Topics. NAIOP research proposals
General Announcements:
John and I will post your Construction Quiz scores on WebCT later this week.
Your Urban Plan Quiz and Project grades are posted on WebCT. Just go to www.uta.edu/webct and login using your UTA user name and password. I will return your exams next Saturday (average was about 88%). Good job with the UP. I think the ULI would like to continue the UP at UTA!
Saturday November 17th is the ULI Urban Plan City Council. All three teams must be ready with their model and reports (please bring six copies of your reports). Don't forget, you need to wear business attire. Read your UP manuals carefully for presentation requirements.
Saturday, November 24th is the ULI Quiz. You will have the first hour of class to take the quiz. You also need to be ready with your term paper topic. I will ask you to write one page on your paper thesis and outline your topic. See below for library research tips.

Term Paper Style Guidelines
Abstracts
An abstract of not more than 100 words, summarizing the research purpose, method and findings, is required.
Headings
Primary, secondary and tertiary heading should be indicated by numbering or in outline fashion (i.e., I, II, A, B, i, ii, etc.). Such outlining/numbering is for editorial purpose only and will not appear in print.
Summary
Each manuscript should include at the end of the text, a non-technical summary statement of the main conclusions.
Exhibits
Illustrations must be titled and numbered consecutively as exhibits with Arabic numbers. Please check that the text contains a reference to each exhibit. Verify that all numerical amounts add up to totals shown in the tables and that significant digits are rounded to no more than 2 or 3 numbers. All figures need to be sharp, clear and laser-quality.
Endnotes
Endnotes in the text must be cited consecutively. They should be double-spaced and appear on a separate page. Avoid numerous and lengthy endnotes.
References
References must be presented alphabetically by the last name of the author and be double-spaced. References must be dated, and the citations in the text must agree. Only those references cited within the text should be included. The references must fit the following format:
