Jung-Chih Chiao received his B.S.E.E in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the National Taiwan University in 1988, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in the Electrical Engineering Department at the California Institute of Technology in1991 and 1995, respectively.
He served as a Research Scientist in the Optical Networking Systems and Testbeds Group at the Bell Communications Research (now Telcordia) from 1995 to 1997. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Hawaii - Manoa as an Assistant Professor in 1997.
J.C. joined Chorum Technologies in 1999 as a Product Line Manager and Senior Technology Advisor. He became an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Hawaii - Manoa in 2001.
J.C. joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Texas - Arlington in July 2002 as an Associate Professor.
His research interests include
  • MEMS Microelectromechanical system wireless and optical devices
  • WDM Wavelength-division-multiplexing optical components and networking
  • MMIC Monolithic microwave/millimeterwave integrated-circuit components and antennas
  • QOW Quasi-optical wireless communication/radar components and systems
