Mary Lynn Crow, Ph.D.
Mary Lynn Crow is a licensed clinical psychologist in addition to being a Professor of Education. She has
been at the University of Texas at Arlington for several decades during which time she has won each of the
university’s major teaching awards. Along with Allan Saxe, she was one of the first two recipients of the
AMOCO Outstanding Teacher Award at UTA (now called the Chancellor’s Council Award for Excellence in Teaching).
It was the first award presented at UTA for outstanding teac hing. She is also a Piper Professor of Texas
and a member of the UTA Academy of Distinguished Teachers. While at UTA she has served as Director of UTA’s
Faculty Development Resource Center which was the first center in Texas and one of the first five in the
country devoted to improving instruction at the university level. While heading that center, she served
as the international President of the Association composed of leaders of faculty and instructional development
centers at colleges and universities. She has also served as Interim Dean of the College of Education. Prior
to coming to UTA, Dr. Crow was a teacher and guidance counselor in the public schools and was the Romper Room
Teacher on the Romper Room International Television Kindergarten.
In 2009 Dr. Crow was named an inaugural recipient of the University of Texas System Regents’ Oustanding
Teaching Award.
