 "Extra Credit"Assignment points
Many class days, I will give you a writing or problem assignment. If you turn in an acceptable product by the beginning of the next class period, you will receive a grade of 100 for that assignment. If you do not turn in an acceptable product by the beginning of the next class period, you will receive a grade of 0 for that assignment. You must put your name in the upperleft hand corner (last name first) and the due date in the upperright hand corner. I prefer typed assignments, but at a minimum it must be very legible. You will put it on the front desk as soon as you arrive (before the beginning of class).
At the end of the semester, I will average all of your assignment grades. If you have a final assignment grade of 100, I will add 5 points to your final average. 95 or above will receive 4 points. 90 or above 3 points. 85 or above 2 points. And 80 or above 1 point. There will be no deductions for grades below an 80.
If no student objects and if we will be exceeding one hour in class, we will take a TWO minute break. Students are welcome to step outside of classhowever, all students must be in their seats at the end of TWO minutes.

It is the responsibility
of every student to confirm that they are registered for this class.

All students need to
bring a basic calculator (+, , /, *, and sqrt) to class
every day.

All students are strongly
recommended to:
If you are taking the objective exams, you will need the "General Purpose Pearson NCS Answer Sheetform no. 4521." It is the larger form (8.5 x 11).

Calculating Chi Square

The significance level is a
function of: (1) the Chi Square statistic and (2) the degrees of freedom
(which in turn are a function of the number of cells or in some
instances the number of cases or groups). The correspondence of the Chi
Square statistic, the degrees of freedom, and the significance level can
be found in tables for the Distribution of the Chi Square statistic (in
NN, it is Appendix H, pp. 513514).

"We then compare the value
calculated [Chi Square] ... to a standard set of tables."

Recommended/Required:

Math 1302 and 1308. This
course [3310] involved a high level of familiarity with statistics.
I had never taken a statistics course prior to this class.
Thus it hurt me tremendously. However, after studying
statistics and understanding the concepts, I made a B.
