Who can participate?

Girls in 7th and 8th grade and their mathematics teachers


How do I sign up?

You can either

1)      have your mathematics teacher submit your name to the organizer of the event by emailing jorgensen@uta.edu


2)      you can complete a short online registration form, which requires you to fill in your name, grade, and school name.  Online Registration Form


All students who attend must have a permission form signed by their parent.  The forms will be available at the Mavericks in Math event check-in table in Pickard Hall on March 22, or you can print one out now and bring it with you.

Our mission

The goals of the event are to:


1)    Encourage the study of mathematics among young women, especially minorities and those from low-income families.

2)    Provide an enriching and encouraging environment for promoting positive attitudes toward mathematics.

3)    Continue to develop a strong connection between UT Arlington and Arlington ISD students and teachers of mathematics


Some Specifics:

B.     The “Mavericks in Math” panel gives you a chance to interact with UTA students who are building careers related to mathematics.
