Dr. Yu Earns Phase II TXDOT Funding to Model Geothermal De-icing of Bridges

A team of researchers at the University of Texas at Arlington will test concepts it developed during the last year to use geothermal energy to make Texas bridges and overpasses safer during winter weather.

Civil Engineering Associate Professor Xinbao Yu introduces the concept of employing geothermal energy for bridge and pavement deicing because it is sustainable and readily available everywhere and in all seasons.


Dr. Han Tongchun Presented his topic in the Dr. Yu's Laboratory

Dr. Han Tongchun presented his presentation named "Stability of Soil Slope Under Rainfall Infiltration-redistribution" in the Dr. Yu's laboratory. Dr. Han is working at Research Center of Coastal and Urban Geotechnical Engineering, Zhejiang University in China.

Dr. Yu Participates in the ASCE Pipelines 2015 Conference

Dr. Yu presented his paper titled "Finite Element Modeling of Full-Scale Concrete Manholes under Soil Pressure" at the ASCE Pipelines 2015 conference. This conference was held in Baltimore, Maryland from August 23rd to 26th, 2015.
