Background

Dr. Yazdani is well known for his research on concrete/timber bridge design and rehabilitation, hazard mitigation in civil infrastructure, nano-concrete and engineering education. During his career, Dr. Yazdani has received numerous awards for his teaching and research abilities and has secured more than $13 million from externally-funded research projects, on most of which he is/was the principal investigator. Funding sources have included a variety of federal, state and local entities, such as the FHWA, NSF, FEMA, U. S. Army, USDA, FDOT and TxDOT. Under his conception and leadership, the Disaster Mitigation Group and an NDE Laboratory have been established at UT Arlington. Dr. Yazdani serves or served on the editorial board of the ASCE Journals, NCHRP panels and the Florida Hurricane Loss Commission.

Dr. Yazdani is a past Chairman of the Civil Engineering Department at UT Arlington. A Fellow of ASCE, ACI and SEI, Dr. Yazdani is the author or co-author of more than 160 articles in journals and proceedings, and an invited speaker at conferences and seminars. He has been very active in national societies, such as the ASCE, ACI and the TRB. He is a past president of the ASCE Tallahassee Branch, past Chairman of the ACI-SEI Joint Committee 343 on Concrete Bridge Design and current Chairman of the SEI Fort Worth Branch. Dr. Yazdani has organized many technical sessions at national/international conferences. He is an ASCE certified ABET program evaluator.
