From Sputnik to MySpace: The New Education Race, and How to Win IT, with Douglas Rushkoff

Just as the Soviet launch of the Sputnik satellite launched America into an education race against its Cold War adversary, the emergence of high-tech superpowers from India to South Korea has forced us to reconsider how we are preparing our youth for the economic and security landscape of the 21st Century. In this talk, Rushkoff demonstrates how it is no longer enough to teach our students how to use off-the-shelf programs, or even to train them to use today's technologies; at last some of them must be capable of designing, programming, and engineering a digital infrastructure beyond most of our imaginations. This lecture will give audiences not only the motivation and reasoning behind upscaling our educational capacity, but the first concrete steps we need to take in order to do so.

Rushkoff’s books will be available for sale and will be signed before and after the event.
