Ms. Harriet E. Watkins, Manager Instructional Designer
Center for Distance Education
Design This!
This presentation will provide students with a closer look at the instructional design field. Many students may already know about more commonly known IT fields, but this is one that merits consideration. This interactive, exciting, fast paced presentation will cover the different types of technology tools which are currently being used to design distance education courses as well as the "latest and greatest" emerging tech tools, including podcasting, blogs, and virtual reality. The overarching theme of the presentation will encourage students to continue their education beyond high school and expand their career options to include a career in instructional design. During the session, students will be given the opportunity to work in small groups to design a lesson that they think would “knock their socks off” incorporating technology. NOTE: Given the emphasis on active learning, this session is limited to no more than 45 students. It can be tailored to last from one to three hours.
