More Than Your Eves Can See
In this presentation, students will learn that the light they see everyday (sunlight, candlelight, bulb light, etc.) is NOT the only light. There are also other kinds of light that humans cannot see. They will learn about different kinds of lights emitted by various astronomical objects and how astronomers detect those lights. The presentation also includes information on why astronomers need space telescopes, as well as ground telescopes.
Do Astronomers Have to Work All Night?
In addition to a briefing on astronomy and physics research going on at UT Arlington, the presentation will include a discussion on topics like: Who are astronomers? What do they do? What are their research areas? What kind of mysteries do they solve? What is the difference between an astronomer and an astronaut? How does one become an astronomer? NOTE: Talk to be delivered in UT Arlington's new planetarium; no more than 160 students can be accommodated at a time .
