Archeometallurgy - How Materials Science Changed the World
The development of the human civilization from Neolithic Age to the Bronze, Iron, Steel, and Silicon Ages is intricately associated with the development of materials. This presentation will provide a historical and scientific perspective of how Materials Science has influenced the development of societies and civilizations.
Overview of Materials Science and Engineering
Materials Science and Engineering are involved in every aspect of human existence, from the transportation that brings us to work and school to the clothes we wear, to the buildings we live in. This presentation will provide an overview of how Materials Science and Engineering play roles in everyday life from the tires on automobiles, to tennis racquets, to the cars we drive. Additionally, Materials Science is involved in the development of new technologies, including nanotechnology and bio-nanotechnology.
