Library Access

Your Mav ID is required to access the Library. Swipe your Mav ID card through the card reader on the east wall adjacent to the library door. For security reasons, do not prop open the library door.

Library Policies


  • The computers are primarily for educational and research purposes. UT Arlington students, faculty, and staff have priority.
  • Quiet conversation is fine, but please respect the need of others for a quiet and orderly place to study by keeping noise levels low.
  • Personal listening devices such as IPods, cell phones, and your laptop should be adjusted so that others are not disturbed.
  • When using cell phones, be considerate of those around you and keep your conversations short and your voice lowered.
  • Food and Drinks with lids are allowed in the Library. Please be mindful to recycle and dispose of any trash in the appropriate bins provided.

Pharos Printing - How to Print

  1. From the program, go to File and choose Print Preview.
  2. If the Print Preview looks correct, then select Print from the Print Preview window.
  3. From the Print Window, check selections:
    1. Print Range - Choose All, Pages (to enter a range such as 2-6), Current (to print the page currently being viewed), or Selection (to print only a section you have highlighted).
    2. Print Frame - As laid out on screen if you want it to print exactly as it is displayed on the screen (see the Options tab for all Print Windows other than from Mozilla).
    3. Print Properties/Preferences
      • Flip on Long Edge for duplex printing using the Portrait Orientation
      • Flip on Short Edge for duplex printing using the Landscape Orientation.
  4. Choose Print.
    1. Give your job a name. You can also password protect your job at this point.
    2. Hit Print.
    3. After few seconds the cost for your print job will be displayed. Click OK or Cancel.
  5. When you are ready to print your jobs, you will need to go to the Print Release Station for that location.
    1. Enter you NetID.
    2. Swipe you Mav Express ID card (black strip facing the light)
    3. Highlight a job to see how much it will cost. Highlight a job AND click Print to accept charges and to send the job to the printer.
NOTE: You are not charged for your print jobs until you swipe your Mav Express card and click Print to release the print jobs to the printers. If you do not release your print jobs they will be deleted automatically after 2 hours without any charges occurring to your account.

Wireless Printing (WebPrint)

You can print to library printers directly from your laptop! To do this, follow the link below to access UTA WebPrint. Log in with your NetID and password, upload your document, select a printer and print! Be sure you follow all the way through the process - it won't print until you see the green JOB SUBMITTED message.

Once you see the green "COMPLETED" screen, head over to the library with your MavID card to get your print jobs.

  • The "Library Black-and-White Printer" is on the 2nd floor of the Central Library;
  • The "Library Color Printer" is at the Fine Arts Library [in the Fine Arts Building],
  • The "Library Santa Fe" printer is at the Fort Worth center library.

WebPrint can print text-based and Microsoft Office-compatible documents such as:

  • plain text
  • Rich Text
  • PDF
  • MS Word
  • MS Excel
  • MS Power Point
  • and others.

It does not support documents that must normally be printed from within another application, such as CAD drawings or Photoshop design files.
