ARLINGTON–The Gallery at The University of Texas at Arlington is presenting the “Faculty Biennial,” a showcase for recent work created by the Department of Art and Art History faculty. In this exhibit, scheduled every two years, the art professors show what they’ve been up to in their creative endeavors outside the classroom. The 2008 exhibition, which runs through April 19, features the work of over 40 faculty members in a wide variety of media including painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, glass, video, digital imaging and graphic design. In addition, the department's art historians will have examples of recent publications on display.
"This exhibition is a sampler of the faculty's talents as professional artists and expresses the richness and diversity of their ideas and techniques," said gallery curator Benito Huerta.
In association with the exhibition, several of the artists will discuss their work in a series of noontime gallery talks on selected Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the exhibition. The dates for the talks are:Thursday April 3:
