ANSWER THE CALL OF MAVERICK COUNTRY
Whether you graduated yesterday or 50 years ago, there are plenty of reasons to come back and see us. Throughout the year, we host enough events and activities to keep your Maverick spirit alive and well. Come back to campus and explore your old stomping grounds. You’ll have a fun, enriching time. We promise. Read more below, and be sure to check back for developments. And if you can’t make it to any of these events, be sure to check back in with us for videos, photo galleries, and stories about all of the great things happening here.
AN ILLUSTRIOUS EVENING
Our annual Alumni Gala is a night where we recognize distinguished alumni for their individual achievements, contributions to their industries or professions, service to their community and demonstrated loyalty to UT Arlington. The event also generates significant scholarship funds for students.
RECONNECT AND REMINISCE
You came, you saw, you conquered. Now it’s time to come back and see what’s become of your legacy. You will not be disappointed. Every year, we host a number of alumni reunions for previous members of student groups (like Greeks, student leaders, and the MavElite) on campus. These events typically occur during and around Homecoming, though other reunions may occur throughout the year.
WELCOMING YOU BACK
Come back home. We miss you. Every year during Homecoming our students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the general community come together to celebrate the unique spirit that makes our University one amazing place to be. While the University organizes several reunions during Homecoming week, our alumni have been known to organize reunions of their own on campus.
For years, our alumni have sponsored Oozeball, one of the University’s most beloved ongoing campus traditions. But we don’t have to tell you that. Mucking about in mud up to our ankles, spiking a volleyball right over the net, is a memory that unites us all.
GIVING BACK GOES BOTH WAYS
Our capacity for success lies not only in our outstanding faculty, staff, and students, but in the belief placed in us by our philanthropic partners. Of these, our alumni gifts are the ones that mean the most. They tell us that your experience as a Maverick is one you want to sustain for generations to come. We recognize these invaluable contributions at events like the Edward E. Rankin Legacy Society Luncheon and the 1895 Society Gala.
WORD ON THE STREET
Now in its seventh season, the Maverick Speakers Series brings dynamic and thoughtful speakers to the UT Arlington stage. Past lectures have included Soledad O’Brien, Seth Meyers, Cokie Roberts, Anderson Cooper, and many, many more. These events are always free and open to the public, though preferred and exclusive seating options are available.
FILL YOUR SOCIAL CALENDAR
Our calendar of events stays full year-round so yours can, too. During any given week, you’re likely to find something that suits your interests, from distinguished visiting lecturers and world-class entertainment to gallery shows, theater productions, and more. Some perennial favorites include ART|UTA, the Webb Lecture Series, and regular presentations at the Central Library’s 6th Floor Parlor.
GO TO TOWN
The newly enlivened Downtown Arlington community is thriving thanks in part to its infusion of Maverick spirit. Many businesses offer discounts to anyone with a Maverick ID card, and UT Arlington is a regular sponsor of community events in and around the area. Access to good food and great entertainment at little or no cost is just one of the many benefits of living in a college town.
