Brian came to UT Arlington from Tarrant Area Food Bank in Fort Worth, where he was a grant writer for three years. He spent six years as senior writer at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and as a stringer for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He began his career teaching composition, English, and journalism at The Oakridge School in Arlington.

Brian was born in Fort Worth, grew up in Euless, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, and is well-traveled in Pantego, where he and his wife live in perpetual motion with two children, one gecko, and a turtle named Tina.
