Scholarships and Fellowships

Impact
The achievement of earning a college degree opens a vast field of possibilities for a student. Scholarships offer an equal opportunity for all to receive a world-class education regardless of their financial means. Prepared by their UTA education, these students will make a positive impact and difference in the world around them. Scholarships also increase University prominence by providing scholarship dollars UTA can use to recruit top high school and college graduates to study within one of its disciplines.

Scholarships not only provide students critical economic support, they also provide a source of encouragement to all who receive them. Scholarship recipients note that this support often comes at a time when they were unsure of their financial ability to continue their studies. Knowing that someone cares enough to contribute to their success renews their sense of purpose and commitment to their education.

Through the generosity of donors, generations of deserving scholars for years to come will be able to receive financial assistance to pursue their academic goals.

Investment
The University of Texas at Arlington relies on the support of alumni, friends, corporations, foundations and other partners to meet the needs of its growing student population. While tuition at UT Arlington remains lower than many Texas universities, in-state tuition has increased 113% since 1999. External support is vital in enabling UT Arlington to maintain its ability to offer accessible, quality educational opportunities to its students.

• The minimum level required to create an endowed scholarship is $10,000. Donors select an area of focus and partner with UTA in ensuring their gift remains an enduing expression of their interest and passion.

• Endowed fellowships support excellence in teaching and research regardless of rank or tenure, including visiting scholars in residence. Endowed graduate fellowships are awarded to deserving graduate students based on University standards and criteria set forth by the donor. The minimum investment level is $50,000 for an endowed fellowship.

Legacy
Endowed scholarships and fellowships provide donors with a way to make a lasting statement about the elements of quality education they care most about. Opportunities range a broad spectrum from increasing international diversity to encouraging more students to study a particular discipline.

Scholarships and fellowships also provide opportunities to honor loved ones and other individuals who have played an important role in the donor’s life. By naming endowed scholarship or fellowship after someone, donors are able to honor their friends and family in a lasting way while making a positive impact on the quality of life for students at The University of Texas at Arlington.
