Established in 2003 by an anonymous gift in honor of UT Arlington alumnus John Goolsby and his wife Judy, the Goolsby Leadership Academy in the College of Business Administration advances the knowledge and practice of leadership to empower individuals, organizations, and communities.  The Academy is a dynamic center committed to undergraduate student education, scholarly research, and the engagement of executive practitioners in graduate and continuing education programs.

Students engaged in the Goolsby Leadership Academy as Goolsby Scholars represent the best and brightest of their peers.  In addition to their major coursework, Goolsby students receive a customized education designed to transform leadership potential into leadership reality.  At the heart of the student development experience are advanced leadership courses, psychological assessment, in-depth lecture opportunities with the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex’s leading executives.  Scholarships in support of these outstanding students enable their pursuit of leadership excellence and success.

Faculty engaged in the Goolsby Leadership Academy provide much more than excellent instruction.  They interweave the study of leadership principles across the curriculum – organizational development, accounting, management, marketing – and challenge students to become problem-solvers and ethical leaders. Together with their students, they also engage in important research which further advances the body of knowledge.  The Goolsby Leadership Academy seeks to complement its educational offerings by supporting outstanding instruction and research through the creation of endowed faculty positions vital to the Academy’s success and impact.

A unique opportunity also exists for corporations to establish partnerships with UT Arlington and the Goolsby Leadership Academy.  In addition to supporting the growth and development of the future workforce, corporate partners investing in the Goolsby Leadership Academy will have the opportunity to provide feedback on industry needs, participate in internship and continuing education programs, recruit from among UTA’s best and brightest students, benefit from leadership research, and engage UT Arlington faculty in productive partnerships.

Together with our supporters and corporate partners, the College of Business Administration will extend the Academy’s impact, scope and reach while distinguishing The University of Texas at Arlington as an institution that creates, facilitates, and promotes leadership at the core of its academic focus.  For more detailed information about the Academy, click here.
