Frequently Asked Questions
UT ARLINGTON IS STATE SUPPORTED AND I PAY TAXES. WHY SHOULD I GIVE MORE?
State assistance is dwindling and now makes up less than 20 percent of the University’s overall operating budget. This makes gifts from alumni and other supporters even more important. They help fund critical areas like student scholarships and efforts to recruit and retain world-class faculty, propelling the University toward its goal of becoming a major national research institution.
DOESN’T TUITION PAY FOR ALL OF UT ARLINGTON’S NEEDS?
The University works to keep tuition affordable so students can fulfill their dream of earning a college degree. As a result, tuition revenue covers less than 50 percent of our operating budget. Beyond basic expenses, funding is necessary for innovative research programs, student enrichment, financial aid for talented scholars, and countless other initiatives.
I CAN’T CONTRIBUTE MUCH. WILL MY GIFT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Yes! Last year, gifts of $100 or less totaled $307,050. Any amount—$10, $25, $50, or more on a regular basis—adds up to significant dollars. Regardless of the size of your gift, your decision to give is priceless.
WHAT DOES MY GIFT SUPPORT?
Your donations help UT Arlington transform students’ lives, push the boundaries of knowledge, and serve those around us. They help our accomplished professors inspire students to reach unprecedented academic heights in more than 180 degree programs from a comprehensive array of disciplines. Your gifts provide a steady flow of support for academic and student-life programs. Many contributions are unrestricted, which means they fund priorities for the University and its colleges, schools, and programs. Funds directed toward a specific college give deans the flexibility to support deserving students and initiatives.
