Carlisle Society

UT Arlington’s most exclusive group of donors, the Carlisle Society recognizes those whose cumulative giving to the University exceeds $50,000.

Petsches

Carlisle Society members Alan Petsche ’80 and Bonnie Smith Petsche ’86 committed $1 million to College Park Center, UT Arlington’s transformational special events venue that opened in February 2012. The center’s basketball court is named Petsche Court in their honor.

Through their generosity, these alumni, faculty, staff, and friends play an active role in making UT Arlington a rising research powerhouse. Many Carlisle Society members have created permanent endowments that provide ongoing funding for critical initiatives.

James McCoy Carlisle, for whom the society is named, founded Carlisle Military Academy in 1902. A predecessor to UT Arlington, the academy soon became one of the best-known military schools in Texas. From those early successes, the institution grew into today’s university of more than 33,000 students with an annual economic impact of $1 billion in the North Texas region. The Carlisle Society honors the academic vision that Carlisle brought to the institution he created.
