Human Resources FAQ
When students are hired as GTA’s and GRA’s what steps do they need to take with Human Resources?
GTA’s and GRA’s need to attend an Employee Records/Benefit Information Session, which are set up for times in August and September for the Fall Semester and times in January for the Spring Semester.
During the session, they will be informed of all of the benefits they will have for having a GRA/GTA title and they will complete all New Employee Paperwork needed to get them in the system and satisfy the federal, state and university compliance rules. These sessions are held at the J.D. Wetsel Service Center, 1221 W. Mitchell, Room 200.
What benefits are available to GTA’s and GRA’s?
Medical, dental, and vision insurance are available. The student employee will need to be working 20 hours (50% time) a week and be appointed for 4 ½ months or more time to qualify for any of these benefits.
How are changes to benefits relayed to graduate students?
Students will be contacted through university email or mail. Also, the hiring department can inform the students of any changes.
If you have any additional questions please contact Human Resources or your hiring department.
