Fraternity and Sorority Life

Mission

The office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at the University of Texas at Arlington, as a component of the Division of Student Affairs, fosters a quality fraternal experience that enhances student success and development by promoting community values of integrity and learning in a diverse and inclusive setting.

UTA Fraternity and Sorority Life

The Fraternity and Sorority community at UTA is comprised of 33 National & local organizations with four (4) governing Councils. Fraternity and Sorority members hold a variety of leadership positions throughout the campus community: Student Congress Executive Board, Student Congress Senators, ROTC, Mr. and Ms. UTA, EXCEL Directors, Orientation Leaders, etc. Basically, Fraternity and Sorority students can be found across the campus.

Fraternity and Sorority Life offers many advantages that simply CANNOT be found elsewhere on campus. Involvement contributes to an individual’s development through the encouragement of personal, professional and scholastic goals. Many opportunities are available for leadership and service offered on campus and in the community. We also provide athletic and social opportunities, and most importantly, assist in the development of meaningful lifelong friendships.

ACADEMIC SUCCESS

The fraternity and sorority community at UTA is supportive of the academic mission and seeks to provide opportunities for students to be successful in their academic endeavors. Each organization and its members are required to maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.

PHILANTHROPY & SERVICE

The fraternity and sorority community at UTA values service and philanthropic efforts to the Arlington community and beyond.  Participation in community service and philanthropy builds character through the realization of the needs of others.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

The fraternity and sorority community at UTA strives to provide opportunities for students to enhance and develop their leadership skills through campus involvement. In addition, fraternities and sororities not only provide training on the principles of leadership, they are laboratories in which these principles can be tested. Each chapter is self-governed and offers its members the opportunity to maximize their leadership potential through chapter participation and campus involvement.

LIFELONG FRIENDSHIPS

The fraternity and sorority community at UTA is dedicated to connecting student and alumni to a positive lifelong fraternal experience. This is one of the foundations of the fraternity and sorority experience. The unique personalities of fraternity and sorority members provide a diverse and well-rounded community. The ideal of brotherhood and sisterhood is a cornerstone that each fraternity and sorority is built upon and is reflected in each chapter.
