Panhellenic Council (PHC)

What is the UT Arlington College panhellenic?

The College Panhellenic (CPH) at UT Arlington is the coordinating body of the National Panhellenic Conference sororities chapters represented at UT Arlington. The council is comprised of an Executive Board of officers along with  delegates from each member group. CPH provides support and services to the almost 400 Panhellenic sorority members as well as representing sorority life to the University and the surrounding community.

how to join spring 2014

Continuous Open Bidding (COB) is a way for sororities to pick up a few women here and there. It's very casual and unstructured and, since not every sorority participates, it's not easy to tell which sororities will participate in a given semester. It doesn't operate on a schedule, so some sororities will complete their COB process before another begins it. If you're interested in sorority membership, though, and a chapter invites you to a COB event, you should attend. If you missed out on formal recruitment, this is a great way to try and find a sorority home at UT Arlington.

How does COB work?

Unlike formal recruitment, COB is a very casual and unstructured and it is important to point out that each chapter does COB differently. CPH does not set dates for recruitment events or offering of bids. Chapters individually contact a potential new member and invite her to an informal recruitment event or chapter activities in an effort to get to get to know her better. Potential members can also reach out to chapters to find when the next events are to meet women of the chapter and learn about membership.

How will Sororities decide who to invite?

There are several ways sororities might get names. An officer will announce that the chapter will be conducting COB and will ask if anyone already knows someone who might be interested. For this reason, it is important that you let your sorority friends know that you would be interested in learning more and maybe joining, should they conduct COB. Prospective members are also welcome to attend events hosted by the chapters.

HOW TO JOIN fall 2014- Formal Recruitment

CPH will be hosting Formal Recruitment in the fall of 2014 semester from August 27th - September 1st. The formal recruitment period is designed in a way that allows each potential member the opportunity to become acquainted with as many sororities as possible so that she may make a wise and unbiased decision concerning membership. Furthermore, formal recruitment allows sororities to recruit potential members on an equal opportunity basis under Panhellenic guidelines. Participating in Formal Recruitment is a wonderful way to meet new people at UT Arlington. Even if you decide not to join a sorority, you will gain fabulous memories and many new friends. Sign up for Formal Recruitment will begin May of 2014.
