Tobacco Free On Campus

As of August 1, 2011, The University of Texas at Arlington is a tobacco-free campus. In order to provide students, faculty, staff, and visitors with a healthy, welcoming learning environment, the University will begin prohibiting the use of all tobacco products — including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and smokeless tobacco—on campus property at all times. Violators will be subject to penalties detailed in the tobacco-free policy.

UT Arlington is committed to providing students who wish to stop using tobacco products with the resources they need to transition to the new campus policy.

UT Arlington offers tobacco cessation education classes that are free for all students. The Fresh Start From Tobacco program consists of a series of four classes designed to educate and assist individuals who are ready to make a fresh start from tobacco use (including smokeless tobacco).

Facilitated by Health Services, the four one-hour educational sessions address tobacco addiction and cessation topics. These classes cover addiction, quitting, coping strategies, and receiving help. It is important to attend all four sessions. In addition, all participants are eligible for a limited supply of nicotine replacement therapy patches and gum. Students may register for classes by contacting Health Services at 817-272-2771
