- Students (including GTAs, GRAs, TAs, and RAs) and Faculty/Staff
Yes. Every effort will be made to meet patients' needs in a timely manner. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide four hours advance notice, otherwise a no-show/missed-appointment charge of $10.00 will be assessed to your account. Appointment line: 817-272-2771.

Where is the Health Center located?

We are on the northeast corner of Third and West Streets. Look for us between the University Center and the Business Building.
There is a parking lot directly behind our building. Alternate parking is available in the Parking Garage (south of us 1/2 block) at a discounted rate with a Health Center receipt.

What is a Nurse Practitioner?
A Nurse Practitioner is your partner in health - providing high-quality primary, acute and specialty healthcare services similar to those of a physician. Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are registered nurses with advanced education (most have Master's degrees) and advanced clinical training.
Among their many services, NPs:
- Order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and X-rays;
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, infections and injuries;
- Prescribe medications and other treatments; and
- Manage a patient's care.

How much does it cost to see a provider in the general Medical Clinic?
- Enrolled Students
Your tuition allows you to see a provider in our General Medical Clinic. This means you may see a medical practitioner unlimited times throughout the semester you are enrolled. We have other, optional services available at low cost. GTAs, GRAs, TAs and RAs covered by UT Select are not responsible for a co-pay because it’s covered by their tuition. - Non-registered/Non-fee-paying Students or Distance-Education Students
If you were enrolled in the previous semester but not this one, and you do not intend to re-register in the following semester, you are not eligible to use the Health Center. However, if your provider started a treatment plan while you were enrolled, you can use the Health Center for one additional semester while your care is transitioned to an outside source. You will pay a $25.00 service charge per provider visit plus the cost of any ancillary services.
- Faculty/Staff
Faculty/staff not covered by UT Select may use the Health Center for acute conditions such as pharyngitis, sinusitis, upper respiratory infections, etc. by paying a $25.00 service charge. Ancillary services are available at low cost. If you are covered by UT Select, you may use your insurance at the Health Center and pay the $25.00 service charge.
As Faculty/Staff, you are eligible to see a nurse for a blood pressure check or to fill a prescription without paying the service charge. We accept the University Account Card for payment as well as cash and major credit cards.

Do you accept insurance for medical and prescription expenses?
- We accept the student insurance that is offered by contract with UT System as optional health coverage to enrolled students. We will claim this insurance for any covered expenses incurred by the patient.
- We also accept UT Select for GTAs, GRAs, TAs, RAs and Faculty/Staff (we MUST have a copy of your insurance card before we can claim your treatment charges). Unfortunately, we are unable to provide services to your family unless they also have faculty/staff employment status. If they are UTA students, we do provide services to them, but are not able to claim your insurance for treatment.
- In our Pharmacy, we accept both student insurance and employee insurance for pharmaceuticals.
- If you have another health insurance policy, we do not accept or claim it for you; however, if you submit your receipts to your insurance company, it is possible that they may reimburse you for out-of-pocket charges incurred at Health Services.

Does the Health Center accept laboratory orders or prescriptions from my personal physician?
- Laboratory Orders
We accept laboratory orders from other physicians outside the Health Center. If your examination requires fasting or some other type of special preparation, or if you need other information about our services, please call 817-272-2771.
- Prescriptions
We will fill any prescription from your personal physician, as long as we carry the medication. If you have any questions about a prescription or another service offered by our pharmacy, please click here or call 817-272-2771.

Is my family eligible for treatment at the Health Center?
Spouses and dependents are not eligible for treatment at the Health Center unless they are also students or faculty/staff members. If they are UTA students, we do provide services to them, but are not able to claim your insurance for treatment. Please call 817-272-2771 with any questions on this matter.

Is my visit to the Health Center confidential?
- Yes. All Health Center employees (including student workers) attend training to learn how to prevent breaches of confidentiality. Student workers are closely supervised and are not permitted to read patient charts. Our full-time employees are frequently cautioned about how to maintain confidentiality on the telephone, in person and by correspondence.
- We must have written authorization from the patient before any information is released from the patient's file or as provided by applicable law..
