UTA Disease Policies
|
The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) is concerned about the health of every member of the University community and therefore has developed this policy in regard to the health risks posed by infectious diseases. Based on public health guidelines, the University approach includes elements of risk assessment, the preparation and coordination of critical control strategies to appropriately prepare for a possible outbreak, and efforts to minimize the possibility of exposure on campus. The following procedures apply to all faculty/staff and students who have recently visited any area affected by a travel alert or advisory issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and/or World Health Organization (WHO), or who have been exposed recently to an infectious disease. The most recent listing of "affected areas" may be found on the CDC and WHO websites.
In addition to the procedures outlined in this policy, the University will act in conformance with the guidelines of both the CDC and WHO regarding travel in and around affected areas. Please see below for information on specific infectious diseases.
In all instances of exposure to an infectious disease, faculty/staff and students should consult a physician and seriously limit personal and work-related activities until treatment becomes effective.
