Welcome to the University of Texas Arlington! We hope that your college years here are healthy and happy. However, in the event that you need medical attention while you are a student, rest assured that you have excellent health care conveniently available to you. This year we are launching our campaign, ‘Be a Healthy Maverick.’ But what is healthy? Is it the number of push-ups you can do? Is it the distance you can run? Is it how well-rounded your diet is? Or could it be a combination of these things and more? The easiest way to determine what is healthy is to point out what data shows isn't healthy: starvation diets, foods high in fat and sugar, sedentary lifestyles, lack of sleep, and so on, and so on. Healthy is following a positive lifestyle – one that is manageable, as stress-free as possible, involves a well-balanced diet, incorporates a workout program that is realistic and consistent, and always ends with a good night’s sleep. It is refraining from smoking and illegal/inappropriate drug use, drinking legally and in moderation, and practicing safe sex. And healthy is using all available resources to ensure that your physical health and yourmental health are receiving the best care possible. We invite you to take advantage of UTA Health Services. Our mission is to support academic success by providing quality, patient-centered health care and promoting healthy lifestyles in an accessible, cost-effective manner with respect and compassion. Our dedicated team of health care professionals is here to serve you. We are happy that you have chosen the University of Texas Arlington, and we will be happy to serve you if you need medical care or have any questions regarding your health. Good luck with your studies and good health!
